Hello 2021!  Gorgeous Gradients turned out to be a rather raucous year.  But today’s a fresh start!

Introducing our 2021 theme:

Hems and Ends

The tie that binds all of our 2021 releases is “Hems and Ends”.  We’ll be exploring a variety of cast on and bind off methods as well as a few tricks and tips for what do to with yarn ends.

Additional things to look out for this year:

Mountain View cowl with Puddles

First up, Mountain View!  I’m so excited about this collaboration with my fellow indie designers.  Check out the eBook’s website here: Home – KNITWEARBYTHEBOOK.COM . The hems and ends in Mountain View are two of my favorites – picot cast on and I-cord bind off.

Last year’s The Unique Sheep MKAL has been rescheduled for summer 2021.  Brioche lovers, this one is for you!  If you’ve taken part in our previous The Unique Sheep MKALs, you’ll know the theme.  Any guesses on what element is being paired with brioche?

Linen moebius

Brioche will be featured heavily this year!  From the MKAL to stand alone designs, I’ve got brioche planned in every season – shawls, cowls, and a surprise moebius garment too!

Five Wise Owls yarn
Sea Glass

Keep an eye out for the release with one of my new favorite indie dyers, Five Wise Owls.  This time, it’s worsted weight on the needles in two gorgeous brioche colors.  Later this summer we’ll go back to the fingering from Five Wise Owls for a fun use of “hems” in a cheery summer tank.

I’ll be keeping you updated on my tiny home journey too.  A couple of special patterns relate to this exciting opportunity.  We close on the second parcel of land in just a few days giving us 34 beautiful mountainous acres in Maine for our home and HFC.  And this week we found a new tiny builder (the last one fell through) so we’ll be starting house designing again.

Our verse for the year is 1 Peter 4:10

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Puddles birthday
Puddles on this 9th birthday. 9 years young!

And a very special happy 9th birthday to our GDCSJ, Puddles, who turned 9 on the 6th.  He is such a wonderful blessing from God.  He spreads joy in the most creative ways.  I love watching him gallop through snow, lift huge branches like they weigh only a feather, his morning “you’ve got to play to make it through the day” face with ball, and evening snuggles (with or without yarn).  His 8th year was a challenge, so I am praying for a healthy 9 with lots of adventures and fun.

‘Til next time, happy knitting!
