Driving home from treatment yesterday I was completely floored by the generosity of one of my friends “in the business” who surprised me with a very special gift and the Lakewood pattern from her Ravelry shop. Please, drop by Jessica’s shop and show her some pattern love – buy a pattern, gift a pattern, link a project, or “like” your favorites. In order to pay it forward, I’m offering a “Gift One, Get One” Special on Ravelry through October 7th, 2014. Gift a pattern on Ravelry between now and October 7th and I will drop the same pattern in your Ravelry library. If you already own the pattern you are gifting, please drop me a note with which Knit Eco Chic …
Making Fall
Intersection Cowl, original designed over 2 years ago and photographed last fall for the right feel, is now ready for publishing. At long last, the planning is over and I can share the pattern with all of you, my fellow yarnies! Until… my heart dropped as I looked over the pictures for the pattern cover. In the final photo selection, I discovered the fall leaves appeared only in one background. Apparently last year when I reviewed the photos, I had a fall filter streaming through my window providing the impression of much more color than actually was. Since the time is right for knitters who’d want to knit this piece to wear during the autumn color and the leaves haven’t …
Coming to America – Americo Yarns
For years, Americo Yarns, has been a favorite yarn company of mine, from their gorgeous yarns to their socially responsible company attitude. Visiting their flagship store is quiet an experience. It is easy to imagine yourself in the rustic Andies from the gorgeous hanks of yarn hanging on the walls to the rough hewn wood accents and hand crafted needles and accessories. A leather chair invites you to stop and knit, while the friendly “Americo Girls” help you pick the right colors & fibers for your next project. Originally the yarns they lovingly created were only available in Toronto, Ontario at their flagship store. Then slowly local yarn shops across Canada started to carry Americo. Now, it’s my great pleasure …
Demystifying The Multiple Color Cable
In order to demystify the multiple color cables as seen in the Linked In Cowl & Linked In Cuffs, I created a video that shows the proper way to work each cable as well as how to easily identify common color cabling mistakes. Enjoy!http://youtu.be/oJBF_2uDn7Y
WordPress Ravelry Designs Widget – A Review
Shellbot created an awesome new WordPress widget that filled a much needed hole on my site – Knit Eco Chic’s Previous Publications page. Her Ravelry Design Widget, available through wordpress, Shell’s website, or her Ravelry group (Giddy Knitters), populates your Ravelry patterns on your WordPress site! I used a custom short code for the Previous Publications page. Here’s the page at regular zoom I also added the widget to display on the side bar of my blog. I opted to preview 3 patterns to keep it short and sweet. The widget interface is extremely user-friendly! Even the novice wordpress writer shouldn’t have any problems with the selection of options. The custom short code took a little more finagling. However, it’s …

Sheer Illusion Tank Photography Tips
How to Fix Blowout Spots on Knitwear in Photoshop After bribing my photographer (aka mom) with tapioca pudding & equal time teaching her how to use Adobe PDF, I secured not one, but two 6am wake ups in an effort to beat the sun for the Sheer Illusion tank photo shoots. However, the summer mountain weather was being particularly uncooperative. Even though some shots displayed the fog I stood in, the ambient light continued to cause blow out upon the ice blue tank… right where all my “curves” are, so most inappropriate spots! Knowing I had pushed my photographer’s back to back early rising limits, I was running out of options as the last day of July and my publication …

Sheer Illusion Tank
Replete with special details, the Sheer Illusion tank is designed to flatter your figure. Viewed from the front observe single stranded work above the bust creating a sheer effect, double stranded work through the body providing stability and shape, and a peplum hem floating the garment away from the hips. A key hole with closer cinches the tank around the neck and the sheer effect seen in modesty on the front covers the entire upper back. Side shaping further accentuates your curves. An easy rolled edging finishes the neck and arm openings. Finally, a simple pattern repeat adds knitting and textual interest to the design. Tech edited pattern includes written directions, pattern repeat charts, short row shoulder drop charts, a …
