Triangles and parallelograms transform leftover linen yarn into a uniquely constructed shape shifting cowl that keeps the little grey cells engaged while actually being a simple knit. Soar on the wings of an eagle! As I watched the eagles soar in the vast expanse between the two mountain peaks outside my window, I reflected on Isaiah 40. Using cables and color work, Thermal Lift cowl mirrors the subtle “V” of an extended eagle’s wings while it ascends thermal lifts. The solid background accents the elegant grace of an eagle in flight. Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.
Twisting along the Appalachian Trail and passing not far from my home, the invisible line known as the Eastern Continental Divide diverts waters on the East to the Atlantic Ocean and on the West to the Gulf of Mexico. Eastern Continental Divide cowl mimics the incredible path a single drop of water travels upon falling either on the right or the left of the apex. Everything about this design is local – cotton grown and kettle dyed with eco dyes in Virginia, yarn purchased at my LYS in Black Mountain, NC, inspired by the Eastern Continental Divide and knit in my home close by it. To complete the local lovin’, the photo shoot took place just off the Blue Ridge …
Whether picking apples in the orchard or filling your home with the aroma of freshly baked pie, Apple Tart is the cowl you’ll be picking for all your fall harvest fun. The bamboo blend helps regulate your temperature, while the lace provides fresh air for your little grey cells beneath. It’s a non-pi nonagon!
