Fitting in with “Hems and Ends” – when working two color brioche in the round, do you cross your yarns at the color transition or do you not cross your yarns? As I was knitting Aspen Travels, this question kept egging in the back of my mind.
Carrying Yarn
Our newest release, Butterfly Silk, features optional colourwork with some beautiful colour transitions! But that necessitates the question, how to carry the yarn? I know there are tons of methods out there – from the “no carrying, I cut and weave in ALL those extra ends” camp to the super sly “hide it in my knitting” camp and everything in between.
Sharing 2021
We’re going to continue another year sharing with Handspun Hope! Last year saw so much wonderful growth with that ministry. Our 2020 Sharing partner, Handspun Hope, has been raising money these last few months to build “The Will Barnhill Counseling Center” at their yarn dyeing / crafting compound in Rwanda. As we wrap up our business year end this month what a way to celebrate – this week they announced the second story of said building is now fully funded!! Praise the Lord and heartfelt thanks to all their donors. Earlier this year, Puddles and I took part in Handspun Hope’s first ever Virtual 5K. This effort funded the first floor of the counseling center. Thank you to those who …

Gorgeous Gradients 2020 in Review
Wow, 2020 is almost hindsight! With the wild ride the world-wide pandemic is, I’m so thankful for the vivid colors of “gorgeous gradients” to awaken each release. As I prepare for the nephew invasion (which will see us here until the New Year), let’s recap what 2020 brought to your knitting needles.

Malabrigo Quickies November 2020
Featured as the November 2020 Malabrigo Quickies program release, Snow Showers knits up a double knit cozy cowl in 2 skeins of Verano. In a new facet of the Quickies program, I was honored to be interviewed by Jessica! Grab your favorite hot drink and pop over to November Quickies: Snow Showers to read our chat. As a bonus, find out what I’m sipping on right now ;-).
Solitary Snowflake
If design were to be contrived as a recipe, this unusual combination would be the making of this week’s release, Snow Showers. “Ingredients” – inputted by God throughout the past 25 years! 1 part Christmas gift box – Christmas 2019 (reused from 2018, 2017, 2016, 😉 you get the idea) 1 part choir music from elementary school – yep that’s the 25 years ago reference. In elementary school choir we sang “Solitary Snowflake” by Jerry Estes. Now I don’t have any recordings from my school, but this gives you the feel… and fashion of the day! https://hallmanmusic.weebly.com/solitary-snow-flake.html 2 parts yarn… plus 2 more parts yarn – originally selected by Malabrigo Quickies program, I admit to having a designer brain miscalculation …
