Our next Slip and Rise release came about in a most unusual way! Well, usual for my typical design process anyway.
Quick Guide to Reading the new syntax; written and charted explanations.
Starting off easy the first three releases (Shadowlands/ Shadowlands Headband, Love Letters Cowl, and Vertical Hiker) all featured 2 and 3 stitch cables. But in upcoming releases, the cables will stretch the imagination as the motifs grow in width. Having a firm philosophy enables the expansion into 4, 5, and even more st cables. The possibilities are excitingly endless!
“Into the Unknown” (2022 theme) strongly features slipped stitch cable designs. As my 40th birthday release is quickly approaching, I thought you would all like a peek behind the curtain to see the process and the development of this super fun technique.
Like Shadowlands Headband, our next Slip and Rise release, nods to CS Lewis and Puddles.
We got chatting about Maine and the move and other big 2022 events… Puddles 10-year gotcha anniversary ☹, and cough, turning 40, cough. She threw out “into the unknown”. And ya know what, it was perfect! Not a daunting kind of ‘unknown,’ but a year of adventure in stitches which didn’t restrict the creative juices to one particular cast on / bind off method. “Into the Unknown” was born with joy and friendship, new possibilities, and future new locales!

One of the things I hate to do is undo the provisional cast on in order to graft. So I spent some time trying out different methods to see just how required it is. For visible seams, it’s worth it, but for ones nobody will see, check out this trick instead! Reel on Instagram The Instagram reel was filmed with dear sweet Puddles and since I can’t recreate that, I decided to post the reel into a blog instead of remaking it for you tube.
