For years, Americo Yarns, has been a favorite yarn company of mine, from their gorgeous yarns to their socially responsible company attitude. Visiting their flagship store is quiet an experience. It is easy to imagine yourself in the rustic Andies from the gorgeous hanks of yarn hanging on the walls to the rough hewn wood accents and hand crafted needles and accessories. A leather chair invites you to stop and knit, while the friendly “Americo Girls” help you pick the right colors & fibers for your next project.
Originally the yarns they lovingly created were only available in Toronto, Ontario at their flagship store. Then slowly local yarn shops across Canada started to carry Americo. Now, it’s my great pleasure to announce, they’ve come to America!
Baa Baa Sheep LLC (located in Norfolk, Virginia) is currently the exclusive US retailer for Americo, carrying the Abrazos, Cotton Flamme, and the tanguis/linen in DK weight lines.
So welcome to America, Americo!
I look forward to creating many more Americo yarn patterns in the future. In the meantime, I invite all knitters to discover and share in my love of Americo yarns through these Knit Eco Chic patterns:
