Hurricane Dorian Relief

Wow… and not in a good way. I saw the news on the desolation Hurricane Dorian caused in the Bahamas – the devastation is absolutely indescribable! Samaritan’s Purse has set up an Emergency Field Hospital down there and are actively working to bring supplies and aid. In an effort to support their efforts, for the month of September I’ll be donating $5 from each Landfall pattern sale to Samaritan’s Purse (in addition to the $ going to this year’s sharing partner).

If you’d like to read about their efforts, check out the post here. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/article/pray-for-those-in-the-path-of-hurricane-dorian/

Why Samaritan’s Purse?
• I know them. They are local to my home here in the mountains and go where and when needed.
• Their staff is trained in disaster relief and are committed using the funds received in support of specific relief efforts.
• One of our Ravelry group members was directly impacted by their service when Louisiana flooded. You can read her testimonial here.
• So far, they’ve air lifted 30 tons of emergency relief supplies and a medical staff of 80. As of today’s (9/12) update, their field hospital is now open in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Update Oct. 1, 2019 – thank you all for participating! You raised $30 for the Samaritan’s Purse Hurricane Dorian Relief effort. Your donation has been made. Happy knitting! Remember to tag us #knitecochic or #wearyourknitting so we can see your new Landfall creations!!
