Resuming

Lindsay Lewchuk Announcements, Joy of Knitting (2023 theme), Meanwhile in Maine, Pattern Related 2 Comments

It’s been an interesting 2023 so far and I’m beyond thankful to say I have finally found a new allergy treatment for Spring with tolerable side effects!  Riding the high wave of increased energy, curtailed nasal symptoms, and mostly clear thinking (a weird side effect is neurological, but one that impacts my speech not my thought process), and celebrating the crossing of 41 yesterday, today I pulled the Meanwhile in Maine design out of the sin bin to resume writing and knitting!

A few dedicated hours later, the pattern is in much more comprehensible shape from the shoulders to the arm openings.  With 2 rows of set up still in question, the rewrite on the upper back went smoothly – hurrah!

In reality, 70 degrees and a sweater WIp is perfect as the replacement part of our heat and hot water system still hasn’t arrived.  Brrrrr.
70 degrees is the perfect time to work on a sweater, right 😉!   My sample is just about ready to join the fronts and back.  As you can see, I don’t cut my yarn until I know it’s going to work.  Over the years I’ve ended up with too many useless short strands because of changing the pattern.  Instead, I’ll deal with tangled up balls and know if I do frog, all the yarn remains useable. In reality, 70 degrees and a sweater WIp is perfect as the replacement part of our heat and hot water system still hasn’t arrived.  Brrrrr.

In addition to picking up the Meanwhile in Maine design, I’ve been busy with 3 other patterns. I’ll be posting 3 test knits / review knits next week.  A gorgeous secret collaboration sweater (with both long and sleeveless options), an easy brioche shawl, and a special design for Mother’s Day.  Keep your eye out for the calls (and make sure you’re signed up to receive test knit emails).

Now the for the exciting news… Meanwhile in Maine:

Onyx on the left, Charcoal on the right - steel that looks like cedar.
Onyx on the left, Charcoal on the right – steel that looks like cedar!

Camera dad arrived back in Maine in March and contracted with the cabinet makers and a dry wall guy (who is also a painter)! The biggest news… a roofer is almost ready to start!!!  Our original roofing product came in 3 times the price from last year so we had several weeks of testing out new options that are closer to what was budgeted.  After much debate, Charcoal is the winner. The electricians who were scheduled for rough in over March were hit by the big C, but as they come out the other side, they’ve rescheduled restarting April 17th.   Progress!! I’m so exited!!!

Happy Easter, knitters!!
