The Rise Up Collection, a 7 indie designer eBook, brings 4 stitch patterns together on a variety of handknits. I’m thrilled to be teaming up with some of my favorite indie designers to bring you another knitting eBook collection! Watch as over the next few weeks the patterns will be released from cowls to sweaters, a shawl to socks, and a cozy too. Which will you cast on first?
The cover art and first release of the Rise Up Collection is Alcyone by Christine Guest. Christine adapted the cabled pattern into a dancing star detail on the yoke of a long sleeve sweater. It is absolutely gorgeous! Behind the scenes, we saw several swatches from Christine as she tinkered and worked the cable into a motif that worked seamlessly with the grading and style choices of her design. The designer side of me is very impressed how she created a scalable motif to work with sizing rather than against it.
Mountain View, by yours truly, joined Christine for the first week of releases. We both used the same cable pattern in our designs. The body of Mountain View features the original cable and Alcyone presents Christine’s beautiful adaptation of it.
This week introduces Emergence by Laura from Fiber Dreams. In an exciting twist on one of the stitch patterns, Laura converted a color work stitch pattern into airy lace for her shawl contribution! Emergence was inspired by plants springing forth from the ground and this shawl is perfect for the transitional temperatures of winter turning to spring. Keeping with the earth to bud theme, Laura cleverly used colors that show the promise of spring blossoming from earthy browns too.
