I fell in love with short rows after adapting my knitting style to suit one very particular Great Dane’s preferences. Knitting backwards was his command, so I obediently switched styles. Watch the video below for a quick demonstration of Stockinette and Garter being worked backwards!
What happens when you hit an increase? Yep, those can be conquered while knitting backwards, too. Watch this next video to see the trick I use to teach my brain how.
Stay tuned for my next printed (and digital) knitting book featuring 5 short row shawls – the perfect opportunity to give knitting backwards a try!

It’s so much fun!
So sorry to hear that covid got you, but glad that you’re on the mend! Thank you so much for the video. It’s always stumped me how to go about this and I’m really going to give it a go!

Thank you, Carolyn :-). In the newly added second video I go through my “brain training” process in which I speak in reverse of what I’m doing so when I do in reverse it matches what I’m saying. Happy “knitting backwards”!
