Marcela, from Chilean Spice and Indie Nice, invited me to do an Instagram Live with her! I jumped at the opportunity… and then fessed up, so far my IG Story is blank because I’m seriously smart phone challenged and can’t figure it out!! Hehe, remember that clip from Ocean’s 13, about the soft opening / out of town preview that’s in town? So I wouldn’t feel like an absolute newbie, Marcela, the sweet gal that she is, walked me through Instagram live with a live, which we called a “sound check” yesterday… in preparation of Saturday’s live! So Saturday is the actual live event, but if you want to check out humorous outtake… aka the backstage sound check, it’s posted …

First Snow

Lindsay Lewchuk Announcements, Pattern Related, Puddles, Q&A 10 Comments

With surprise, shock, and a little disbelief I watched as rain drops turned to white wishes during church this past Sunday morning. As soon as the benediction was prayed, Puddles and I leaped with joy, bundled up, and hit the trails! With goulashes on my feet (due to the previous rain) and a smile on my face, we trekked through the neighbourhood watching the snow fall on radiant wet autumn leaves. The contrast between the two icons of the different seasons clashed in stunning beauty! 2 1/2 miles later, our trek came to an end, and the knitting began. We snuggled as I stitched. A few hours later, I had a FO! And it was time to hit the trails …

Grafting Made Easy

Lindsay Lewchuk Announcements, How-Tos, Pattern Related, Puddles, Q&A 1 Comment

With Halloween coming up, there are definitely some knitting techniques that are scary! Grafting doesn’t have to be one of them! With “Grafting Made Easy” you can graft any number of special stitches from knits to purls to lace. Look for a pattern where one side (either wrong side or right side) is worked in knit and / or purl. In this demonstration, it’s the wrong side that is worked in a knit and purl stitch pattern. Use a contrasting colour on your provisional cast on and purl 1 wrong side row. Then switch to your cowl yarn, work until your desired length, ending at the end of the right side row. So if your pattern repeat was 10 rows, …

River Run Farm and Macy

Country Western shawl – check √ Cowgirl hat – check √ (thanks dad and Puddles) Country Scene – check √ Horse substitute – check √ Even though Puddles and camera dad did an amazing job shooting (yes, Puddles is un-edited… camera dad caught him in action!), I knew the full pattern release wouldn’t be until the end of the MKAL and it got me thinking. What if my beloved horse substitute was a REAL horse and the country scene a REAL country western scene? Thanks to a lovely lady from my mom’s Bible study, those “what if’s” became “checks” in time for the full release of Country Western. Helen invited me and camera mom over to her 30 acre horse farm to shoot my …
