Designing is quick; publication is a long slog – at least that’s what life as a knitwear designer has been for me. Remember back in April when we talked about The 3 R’s and I promised Cassandra’s Christmas Sweater was headed out to be recycled? Well, Remix Hour is the result!
A friend of a friend, internet style. It’s so fun how people meet in this day and age – I meet Christine through an internet friend and maybe one day I’ll meet them both in real life. Innovation is key in Christine’s designs. So for our final GAL interview, let’s see what inspires her to think outside the knitted box!
When Jack Frost whistles, hums, or bites your butt, look no further than Remix Hour. With sweater, tunic, or knee-length dress options, it’s sure to be a go-to for every occasion. This pattern fuses fun and form with top-down construction and saucy side panels. Whether over a pair of jeans, a long-sleeved tee worn with boots, or dressed up over a button-down blouse, Remix is the layering piece you didn’t know you needed, but suddenly you do. This Jack Frost proof wardrobe staple is one you’ll choose time and again and wonder how you lived without!
“I hate finishing!” How many posts have begun with that? So true for me! So creativity got to work figuring out a top down construction method that didn’t require the finishing of “seam shoulder” pieces. So I’m happy to introduce “Lindsay’s Disappearing Cast On™” for all your seamed needs (where you don’t actually want to work the seam)!
Do you have beautiful feet? This line from a favorite childhood song is the first thing that pops to mind when perusing Dana Gervais’ amazing pattern catalogue. From amazing cables, to cheery color work, and incredible lace, Dana’s got patterns to make your toes win the award for best dressed! Let’s see if we can uncover the method behind this designer’s fabulous footwear… please join me in welcoming GAL designer Dana to the blog.
An interview with Jessica Anderson – Looking at your Ravelry profile you’ve got a full house, homeschool, and a prolific publishing schedule with 36 releases thus far this year. I’ve not even managed my desired minimum of 12 with only a Great Dane to care for. What’s your secret? How do you do it… ALL?
Wow! I didn’t realize that I had that many releases this year (and I thought it was a slow year!) I actually get asked this question, in various forms, a lot, because I do homeschool, work for a yarn company, and design, so I started a monthly “BizzyMom Series” where I tackle some of the how’s each month. My top secrets though?
Organic cotton in ribbon yarn form. It’s been quite a while since I’ve come across this yarn construction in organic cotton, but it really is something interesting! Inka Sign from Sierra Yarn comes in a variety of fibers, fiber construction, and colors. Today’s review is on their Inka Sign Green Yarn.
One of my favorite commands to give Puddles is “up and over”. From the wee pup to the nearly 7 year old Dane, each time he hears that happy command ring out, he gathers his speed, all his might, and leaps into action!
Pique your interest and the interest of others with this ever-changing Motivity cowl. Short rows set the mood of the moment before launching into an easy knit. The colors you choose highlight the chevron design and your unique style. Ready to express that attitude? Simply rotate your “joie de vivre” color to front and center.
