Each year Puddles and I pick a charity to support. You can see the diagram about it on the FAQs page, “What Happens With…” Last October I read a blog from our 2017 sharing partners, the Craig Family, on their plans for 2018 and decided to continue with them in 2018. What inspired me in particular this year is they are raising money to take a group of High School students from the village they are improving to help improve an even more remote area! Expressing their love by giving back and motivating others to do the same, resonated with me. Check out their inspiring blog here: Meeting Enga It also fits with our 2018 theme, Eco Elements. Hurricane Harvey Irma Relief

Lindsay Lewchuk Announcements, eco world 5 Comments

Thank you guys SO much for all the notes checking in on Puddles and I. We got a fringe storm from Irma, but came through unscathed and with no damage to our area. This hurricane reminded me though of the one that blew threw last year causing massive tree damage to our area. In our neighbourhood alone, removing the fallen trees cost over $100,000. I can’t imagine the costs associated with these mega category hurricanes! The relief effort is going to take a long time, especially for those worst hit. Ravelry group member Andi, reported that a year after the flooding in Louisiana, there are still people in recovery mode. So keep mindful in the coming months of those rebuilding. …

Love, Hair, and Scissors

The keyword this week seems to be love… I’ve seen it everywhere from hearts in tree roots to interactions with test knitters, other designers, and on social media. So today as I leave for treatment, I’d love to tell you about a very special charity! Yes, you caught it… treatment, but I’m actually excited because the benefits far outweigh the pain as I pretend to have a normal life by going out, having fun, and meeting my fellow knitters!!! So what’s the connection between treatment, love, and charity? (Aside: treatment = I have to cut my hair because needles have been lost before – owie!) A few months ago when my treatment was postponed, I realized the postponement availed an …

Secret Project Unveiled

Lindsay Lewchuk Announcements, eco world, Puddles 4 Comments

Oblique references, murmurings, off handed comments… the wait is finally over. Today I’m ecstatic to reveal to you all my secret non-knitting project! Introducing Habitat For Canaries I don’t talk often or in depth about my illness – there is always something more uplifting and positive to speak about. It is a daily issue for the past nearly 19 years, but God has been so faithful through it. One of the greatest gifts He gave me was making me a realistic optimist… I see reality, I accept reality, and then I choose to focus on something positive in the situation :-). With this vision, He has transformed all these years of specialized knowledge I’ve gained through experience into a venture …

The creme on top of the overtly commercial Black Friday and Cyber Monday is definitely “Thankful Tuesday.” On this Thankful Tuesday Puddles and I wanted to take a quick second to thank you for supporting us and consequently the Craig family and the people of Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea. So far this quarter, you’ve raised $28.55 for the Craig family!!! Thank you! To learn more about the Craig family, check out their blog here. Curious as to what in the world I’m talking about? Perhaps you saw the “What Happens With…” tab and diagram on the FAQs page and wondered? Well, I’m so excited to share with you this year’sharing world mission recipients, John & Kristi Craig & their 3 kiddos – Nori, Banner, and Millie. Through Wycliffe, the Craig’s are working on improving water and power infrastructure as well as ministering in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea. Though their internet is intermittent, the Craig’s created a website before they left. You can follow their, often buggy, adventures here: Live for God and Live. When praying about who Knit Eco Chic should share with, God kept bringing to mind John. Growing up my sister had a small close circle of friends who became part of …
