Stitch in Focus Double Layer Knitting

Stitch in Focus Double Layer Knitting

What do you do if you want to knit two layers of fabric in the round without wrong sides facing each other?  Well, you *could* use two sets of DPNs, but is there another way?  YES!  Dubbed “double layer knitting” because it’s a lot like double knitting, but without the purls.  This technique allows you to work two layers of fabric on the same needles so you can easily transition between integrating and non-integrating sections.  Both layers have RS facing knits and WS facing purls creating a double layer of fabric. After a couple of years in production, I’m thrilled to finally be able to introduce On the Silver Screen.  It was a mental puzzle that I eagerly dove into solving – how to take a scarf, On the Set, and convert it into a seamless sweater.  More than once my dyslexia had me jumping through hoops, but in the end with lots of photos to remind myself of knitting orientation, the scarf became a garment of beauty to wear! Glamour One of the ways my fellow indies enable me to join these collections is through yarn choice.  As animal-fiber-free in a woolly world, opting to pick a yarn company with a “Lindsay friendly” yarn was such a blessing.  Malabrigo was …

I’ve so enjoyed being part of Malabrigo’s Quickies programs these last few years. Tweedy Toppers fits into the Joy of Knitting theme because of how much fun designing (& knitting) these Quickies are! The call, the submission, checking the email for the “ya” or “nay” and then celebrating with cameramom and cameradad when the “ya” news comes in. Keeping the secret until the release is definitely a challenge! As I work on the project I frequently announce to the family room, I’m “Miss September” this year ;-). Learn more about this 2-skein design, development, and the subtle influences on Malabrigo’s interview with yours truly about Tweedy Toppers on the Malabrigo blog here: September Quickies:</a> Tweedy Toppers — Malabrigo Blog (malabrigoyarn.com)

Unleashed

Lindsay Lewchuk 2019 New Releases, Patterns, Puddles

Around here, leashes are rarely worn by dogs, but are often seen attached to humans. Why settle for common nylon, when you can knit “Unleashed” and enjoy the luxury of accessorizing with pure silk. Silk, while softer than a newborn pup’s ear, filament to filament, is stronger than steel. Tough enough to halt a barreling Great Dane, yet gentle enough to soothe his very particular eco human’s wrist, there’s no other way to roam through the woods, “Unleashed”.

A Tale of Two Princesses
Legend holds that a princess was enjoying a cup of tea in the garden when a silk cocoon dropped into her cup. The warm tea loosened the cocoon “glue” and as she pulled it out, she was first to see the lustrous and strong fiber that comprised it.
