Introducing Technicolor: Matinee, a collection of small knitting projects by 6 indie designers! Over the past few years (I won’t admit exactly how many years this project has been going on behind the scenes), Jill Wolcott, Laura Patterson (Fiber Dreams), Christine Guest, Carol Herman (Knit Equals Joy), Sue McCain, and yours truly have secretly planned a two-collection set around the theme of movies. Technicolor: Matinee, is the first in the set all focused on small projects inspired by some of our favorite films.
Like previous collections the idea was simple – so often designers end up releasing patterns with similar stitches at the same time; what would happen if we did it on purpose? This time, we added 2 twists – the movie theme and a double collection… one small project and one large project! After a few stitch patterns were selected and knowing the prompts of small and large inspired by the movies, each of us dove back into our hobbit holes to craft and swatch and design to our hearts’ desire.

The first release in the first collection is “On the Set” by me. Over the next 5 weeks, one piece will be released by each of the remaining 5 designers.
The collection includes more than just patterns! Read our essays to discover how we individually went from concept to completion along with the movies that inspired us.

Pick up your copy of Technicolor: Matinee on Payhip or Ravelry. The current price is $16. With each release, the price will increase until the final release when the price will be $30. Regardless of when you purchase, you’ll be receiving all 6 small project designs.
So, grab your favorite movies to knit by or check the eBook for my suggestions and cast on! On the Set is designed to stand as an independent scarf or be the first ingredient in my large project release 😉.
